About us is an overstatement, about "me" would be more accurate.  (Yes, that's me up there in the snow pants and sweater, trying to stay warm.)  By day I'm a simple, but honest bureaucrat in Washington, D.C.  By night I'm a gregarious nerd.  Armed with a few telescopes (a Celestron Nexstar 11, a Celestron Celestar 8, a Takahashi Sky 90, and a Coronado NearStar solar telescope) and premium eyepieces, I lurk about busy street corners waiting to show the unsuspecting public the sky.

I began this hobby during the great opposition of Mars in the Summer of 2003.   Everyone knew Mars was closer than it had been in all of human history, but they didn't know where to look or what Mars looked like.  That's when I first placed my telescopes out for public use.  But it turns out they like other stuff too!  Who am I to deprive folks a view of the Sun, neighboring planets and stars?

Yours truly with some new friends,
